Greetings!

Hi, i'm Julie and I'm a visual artist. I work with a lot of different materials, including clay, paint, wood, and fabric. My studio is in Little Rock, Arkansas, and this blog is where I share studio goings on, new work, and occasional whatnot.

linus

today's painting:

this little guy is so stinkin' adorable. he lives with my friends in safety harbor, florida. he moves so quickly - when he's not squirreled away under blankets on his perch on the back of the sofa, that is! it was a stroke of luck to snap his picture.

lookin' up

today's painting:

i forgot to mention yesterday, i hit #200! only 165 to go if you don't count today, and because of the leap year. whew.

actually, at the beginning of the year, i think i missed 3 due to the fact i didn't start till the 2nd (i think) and then when a good friend passed away, i missed a day, too) but it'll be close to 366 when all is said and done. and who knows, maybe i'll do a couple extra to make up for them so it'll be exactly 366. ocd? attention to detail? let's face it - it's a fine line.

weiner dog (on mustard background:)

today's painting:

um, i kinda wish i'd made his little sweater a different color.
but it did make me laugh.

i may stripe it with blue later, because what is not improved by a stripe or two?
if i do, i'll repost it :)

ps: hi grace!

wiener dog

today's painting:

i think i'll start a series soon. i've been looking at some interesting books i got while i was away. there is the best used bookstore in st. petersburg called haslam's and it's been there since the 1930's. they have the most amazing old art books - the kind with the color plates. last time i was there, i got one on the fauves (one of my favorite art movements). this trip i got one on tantric art and i am slightly obsessed with the patterning and colors in it. this may be my new jumping off point.....
