taking cues from the cat
today's painting: nylo
getting back into the swing of things after the holidays at a slower speed than i thought:)
it's been all administrative whatnot around here and not too interesting in terms of sharing on the blog.
4th Q taxes filed...check
studio tidied...check
house put back in order...check
oh, and it's been freaking COLD here which always makes me move slower than molasses.
it's my feeling that january is a good month to recover from the awesomely crazy holiday season which has been my busiest time of year of late; to make production and exhibition plans for the upcoming months; to source and gather materials for new ideas; and to enjoy a little slower pace of things-i'm going to take my cues from the cats and trees.
all that said, i have been working on some commissions the last week or so and have finished 3 so far. have a couple more in the works and i'll be posting them here as i get them done.

sassy, taxes, and getting organized...
today's painting:
this is the other sassy painting.
i like this little gal.
i have decided to make a canopic jar for my little myrtle's remains. actually, it is technically not a conopic jar as these were used to hold organs, which is gross, but i like that word better than urn. i love egyptian art and so i thought this would be most appropriate. here are some beauties:
myrtle's will be made of clay.
on a more administrative note, i spent the last 2 days working on my 4th quarter taxes. what fun! but now that that is done, i can concentrate on my.....
GOALS for 2013! -for the blog; monday-fridays, weekends optional:)

1. make art everyday
2. post everyday
3. monthly studio projects updates
4. weekly studio projects updates
5. a photo a day
oh, and
6. finish and publish website
7. stock etsy shop
8. have a thriving veggie garden!
does that seem ambitious? well nothing can beat doing a painting a day, but i just couldn't do the same thing again. seriously. but i am not abandoning the project all together. i will continue the small scale paintings a post them as i do. perhaps one a week, perhaps more. but i am interested in some new bodies of work i've been kickin' around and am planning 2 art shows outside of arkansas this year. plus i MUST revisit clay which took a MAJOR back seat last year. i'm super excited to get started!
this weekend i'm gonna firm up my plan and then hit the ground running on monday! yay!

happy new year!! welcome 2013!
what a great holiday it's been! i have been very lucky to spend it with good friends and we really gave 2012 a great send off. i hope you all had a marvelous new years eve and day as well. i am sad to have to begin this year without myrtle, but i am grateful for the fact she is no longer struggling. and i have baxter here by my side to cheer me up. he is the sweetest cow cat and i know he misses her too.
i'm really looking forward to working on some new projects, too. i'll be solidifying my ideas and sharing them with you in the next day or two.
till then, i will be getting back to a little more regular schedule with my massage clients, studio work, and the class i teach at the arkansas arts center.
