It takes a very steady hand......
Greetings!
Hi, i'm Julie and I'm a visual artist. I work with a lot of different materials, including clay, paint, wood, and fabric. My studio is in Little Rock, Arkansas, and this blog is where I share studio goings on, new work, and occasional whatnot.

a chance encounter ...and some other news
today's painting:
tomorrow, i will have a booth from 10-2 at the arkansas literary festival. i'll be bringing an assortment of things from pottery to daily paintings. the festival is both sides of the river, and i will be in argenta in nlr on 5th street. (i think close to the farmers market) it should be a good time so drop by and say hello if you're out and about.
fingers crossed for good weather:)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
i hope everyone had a safe and happy new year! i am so excited to start this year and have some new projects i will be starting TODAY!!! looking at the pictures i took of this orange when i was in california last summer inspires me. it's like a beautiful little gift that wants to be opened, just like beginning a new year.
i have so much i want to do this year sooooo........
THE CHALLENGE:
1. a project a day: working on either a long term project or completing one EACH day. this is a scary goal to set as i am a dedicated procrastinator :) but i guess that's the point!
2. a painting a day: simply put, produce a painting a day. i have some ideas of subject matter and how i will break up the year to keep it interesting. my first thought was to break the year into quarters and assign a subject to each one. portraits, still life, interior spaces and landscapes. but i am curious about abstract and architecture so i may tinker with the details of this in the next couple of days.
for now i leave you with some nourishment for the first day of the year!

gone fishing
it has been ages i know! sigh.
moving on....
it is christmas season in my studio and has been since the last post and i have been a busy little elf with deadlines, deliveries and one ginormous art show and sale (the weekend before thanksgiving, which btw, was great, and thanks for asking:)
i have one more at my house with jeri warlick who is an amazing jewelry designer, among other things. that will be on the 9th.
i also painted an apron for the Tie One On event supporting Our House. it ended up being a really fun project. i was given the category of 'coffee lovers'. being lover of coffee, it seemed like a perfect fit. photos of the process to follow.
also, here is some pictures of the work i created recently for the christmas and holiday sales.
the only pictures i seem to have taken lately is of these new mugs but i will include add some others after i unload the next kiln. stay tuned!
