Greetings!

Hi, i'm Julie and I'm a visual artist. I work with a lot of different materials, including clay, paint, wood, and fabric. My studio is in Little Rock, Arkansas, and this blog is where I share studio goings on, new work, and occasional whatnot.

for the birds

i have decided to start a bird series. i have a thing for them and it seems like many people do. i have been painting things with wings for over a decade and remain intrigued by them. i thought a series would be fun.

classes at the art center where i teach started back this monday and i am working on a little project for next week. in the class we low fire and we mostly hand build using terra cotta, finishing with underglazes and clear glaze. this project is one i saw amy sanders teach on the ceramics arts daily website. it's a clever way to get an interesting look to an old standard.

2. PAINTING A DAY:

btw, this little bird is acrylic on canvas and inspired by jewel's "pieces of you" cd i totally love love love! & have been obsessed with for the last 3-4 months. i always seem to get obsessed with one cd while i'm preparing for the busy holiday art show and sale season, and end up listening to it CONSTANTLY, which i'm sure is not annoying at all. ahem. the quote is from one of her songs:)
