Greetings!

Hi, i'm Julie and I'm a visual artist. I work with a lot of different materials, including clay, paint, wood, and fabric. My studio is in Little Rock, Arkansas, and this blog is where I share studio goings on, new work, and occasional whatnot.

studio update.....

i've been working on some new things i'm not quite ready to share and some things i am....

i have these really neat old wooden stamps from india i picked up at antique and junk sales. they have the finest detail and i think maybe they were used in textiles. i made some little trays over christmas and really liked them and so did others it seems. so i am going to do some more. i really have a soft spot for little trays and bowls and dishes in general. these are pretty simple to make and are terra cotta. i'll use a combination of low fire underglazes and glazes to finish them.

also, i like making the corners like this. very simple and yet attractive, no?

do you see the little clay paws off to the edge in the photos? i thought i was finished with these little guys. i made cats and dogs for years and i love them and so did others...but sometimes i phase things out. do you ever do that? i mean, they really do pretty well, but sometimes i feel it's time to move on. creatively, that is. any hoo, i had a request from a customer for a custom pup and so i am making a few extra. i think i'll try them in my etsy shop when they are ready.
