housework

so.......i've had a project looming over me for quiet some time. i moved into my house about 5 years ago (hard to believe!) and right after i moved in, i built on my studio and a second bathroom. the thing is, i had this big idea i'd put in a cool old cast iron tub and even acquired one from a friend. great idea. how hard could it be? um.....the tub is still sitting in my garage because every time i'd sand some rust off, it would re-rust before i could finish it. it was like groundhog's day. i seriously can't even remember when i got it. last year, i finally broke down and just ordered a new tub off the internet. my dad was visiting and he definitely gets the credit for moving that process along. ok. confession: i can be a bit of a procrastinator. ahem.

anyways, i decided before i install the beautiful shiny new tub, the bathroom must be tiled. that way i can change the paint whenever i want without having to deal with behind the sink, tub etc....it IS practical as i am known for changing colors more often than some. trouble is, i couldn't decide on the tile, placement of tub......you get the idea.

but all that is a thing of the past.

behold, all it's tiled glory!

after the tile was installed(thanks tom!), i went to kaufman's and got this molding and yes, i MITERED it myself!!!! on a radio alarm (radial arm) saw. can you believe it?!? am just a little proud of my self.

just look at all that mitered goodness.....

it has actually now been primed, painted once, nailed in place, and caulked. next is prime the walls and paint new color. then apply final coat to molding. yay!

will have finish photos as soon as is finished. am shooting for sunday at the latest. wish me luck!

ps: when all this is done, i am going to begin my project challenge. stay tuned....
